Derrick Barnes is a Registered Social Worker and Certified Hypnosis Instructor based in Ottawa.  He has over 20 years in working in the Social Work field, including areas of youth corrections, homelessness, community mental health teams, family mediation and dispute resolution. Whether you wish to complete the Introductory Certificate in Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), are interested in learning more about the general concepts of NLP, or  are a seasoned practitioner looking for a review of the core principles of NLP, this session is for you. You will be offered an overview of NLP concepts and principles through presentation, discussions and exercises.  Topics covered include: when, where and why we could- and should- use NLP techniques, the language of NLP, and what are some of the presuppositions (basic beliefs) of the NLP model.  This session provides the foundation for the other NLP sessions being offered throughout the conference.
